Ship Statistics Built: 2002 Overwiev The MS Finnmarken The MS Finnmarken entered service during the spring of 2002. She has accommodations for 670 passengers and has 50% more deck space and 40% more berths than the New Ships. Suites are available, many with a balcony, and some with a Jacuzzi. In Coastal tradition this ship is a floating art gallery filled with Norwegian paintings, sculptures, and textiles. The interior of the MS Finnmarken is decorated in Art Nouveau style reminicent of the first Coastal Voyage ships in old-world elegance. Eleven Norwegian artists have put the finishing touches on the interior with drawings, watercolors, oil paintings, charcoal drawings, lithographs, and sculptures. There are 32 suites, some with a balcony and Jacuzzi. The fitness center with a sauna is located on deck 8 and the outdoor swimming pool on deck 7. Several restaurants, bars, and indoor and outdoor cafes are available throughout the ship, as well as numerous panoramic lounges and observation areas. The 2002-built, 643-passenger ship Finnmarken has 32 suites available, many with balconies and some with a Jacuzzi. All cabins are equipped with TV and telephone. An internet cafe is on deck 4. Finnmarken has an outdoor swimming pool (deck 7), and a fitness center with a sauna and massage parlor (deck 8). Panoramic lounges, restaurants, cafes and bars are located on the top decks. The cabins are comfortable and extremely well detailed. The Finnmarken is almost a floating art gallery, with works by over 13 artists displayed throughout the ship. While I saw lots of families on board, I would still not really recommend this one for families with children. You will find a game room, and games are available at the reception desk, but there are few organized activities beyond the shore excursions. most seem to bring a good book and pass the day on the Promenade Deck in a deck chair. This is a cruise for those who either don't need, or don't want organized entertainment.
