Lots of space, convenient layouts, thoughtful amenities, and muted colors all keep the Rotterdam's cabins as popular as ever. As mentioned, the standard cabins consistently get rave reviews, with the Large Outside Staterooms offering 196 square feet and the Large Inside Staterooms featuring 185 square feet. These cabins offer a separate sitting area that features a leather couch, with more storage space for a standard cabin than is typically seen at sea. Other standard cabin offerings include a nice-sized bathroom with hairdryer and toiletries, a safe, and a television with movies, satellite coverage when available, and closed-circuit choices. There are 20 cabins with Holland America's excellent wheelchair access and facilities. There are also 20 cabins with fully-obstructed views and 22 cabins with partially obstructed views on the Lower Promenade Deck.

The verandah staterooms are definitely worth the price (especially on cruises where a verandah will be used often). The 120 Verandah Suites (230 square feet, excluding verandah) are an especially good value, with a queen-size bed, a larger seating area, in-room refrigerator and mini-bar, whirlpool bath, and a verandah. The 36 Deluxe Verandah Suites (385 square feet, excluding verandah) and four Penthouse Suites (946 square feet, excluding verandah) throw in a king-size bed, dressing room, complimentary stationary, a dressing room, and expanded verandah, as well as the use of the 'private' Neptune Lounge, with personal concierge service, food and beverages throughout the day, and a reading area with current magazines.

Penthouse Verandah Suite Deck: Navigation Penthouse Verandah Suites PS feature a private bedroom with king-sized bed, private verandah, floor-to-ceiling glass windows, living room with sofa bed, dining room, private bathroom with shower and oversized whirlpool tub, dressing room, guest bathroom, pantry, minibar, refrigerator, VCR, television, minisafe, telephone, multichannel music, and a hairdryer. Enjoy additional suite amenities including complimentary bathrobes, personalized stationary, feather pillows, complimentary laundry/dry-cleaning service, fresh fruit, video library, afternoon tea, hors d'oeuvres served before dinner upon request, corsages and boutonnieres for the first formal night, and special disembarkation privileges. Approximately 937-sq.-ft. suite with 180-sq.-ft. verandah.

Deluxe Verandah Suite Deck: Navigation Deluxe Verandah Suites S offer two lower beds that convert to a king-sized bed, a private verandah, floor-to-ceiling glass windows, large sitting area with sofa bed, private bathroom with shower and whirlpool tub, dressing room, refrigerator, minibar, VCR, television, minisafe, telephone, multichannel music, and a hairdryer. Enjoy additional suite amenities including complimentary bathrobes, personalized stationary, feather pillows, complimentary laundry/dry-cleaning service, fresh fruit, video library, afternoon tea, hors d'oeuvres served before dinner upon request, corsages and boutonnieres for the first formal night, and special disembarkation privileges. Verandah Stateroom Deck: Verandah Verandah Staterooms A feature two lower beds that convert to a queen-sized bed, a private verandah, floor-to-ceiling glass windows, sitting area, private bathroom with shower and whirlpool tub, refrigerator, minibar, VCR, television, minisafe, telephone, multichannel music, and a hairdryer. Approximately 229-sq.-ft. suite with 60-sq.-ft. verandah.

Large Oceanview Stateroom Deck: Lower Promenade, Verandah Large Oceanview Staterooms C feature two lower beds that convert to a queen-sized bed, a picture window, private bathroom with tub and shower, minisafe, television, telephone, multichannel music, and a hairdryer. Approximately 196-sq.-ft. stateroom.

Holland America built Rotterdam VI to do yearly world cruises and I can't imagine cabins more comfortable for lengthy voyages. Aboard this ship you'll find the most spacious cabins in the mid-price range, no matter which category you book. Rotterdam has four categories of staterooms: inside (192 square feet), outside (201 square feet), mini suites (229 square feet with 59 sq.ft. private verandah), 36 suites (393 square feet with 189 sq.ft. private verandah) and four penthouse suites (937 sq.ft. with 189 sq.ft. private verandah). All cabins have two single or one queen-sized bed, plenty of closet space, extra-deep drawers, in-room safes, remote-controlled color TV's with closed circuit movies, a radio, dressing table, couch and armchair while bathrooms are complete with hair dryers and lovely toiletries. Inside cabins have showers only; outside cabins have bathtubs and showers. Twenty staterooms are equipped to accommodate physically challenged passengers (including four mini suites) and some cabins have connecting doors for families preferring two cabins.
